When I started Removed in 2014, I had no idea who it would reach.
This spring, the first edition of my book REMOVED: elsewhere, everywhere, nowhere by Snap Collective sold out.
I want to sit with that for a second, because a book like this doesn't sell out on its own. It sells out because people picked it up, talked about it, gave it to someone they love, and or they hung the work on their walls. Tiffany Schlain was one of the very first to order, and she recently sent me this photo holding her print of "Melissa, 2014." Seeing the work in her hands, out in the world, is the whole reason I make it.
So, thank you. To everyone who bought a copy, shared the series, or simply stopped and looked a little longer at the space a phone leaves behind. You're the reason the first run is gone.
The good news: a limited reprint is on the way.
I'm keeping the next run small and printing it with the same care as the first. If you'd like to be first to know when it's back, and have first access before it's listed publicly, add your name to the list below.
The work was always about presence. It still is. Thank you for being here for it.
